Welcome to GymGoat. These Terms of Service ("Terms") explain the rules for using the GymGoat mobile app, website, features, content, and related services ("GymGoat," the "App," "we," "us," or "our").
GymGoat is a social fitness app built around proof-of-workout streaks. Users can take proof photos at the gym, verify gym check-ins through location, build streaks, compete with friends, react to friends' workouts, and use social features connected to our goat mascot, Greg.
By creating an account, accessing GymGoat, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use GymGoat.
You must be at least 13 years old to use GymGoat. If the laws in your country, state, or region require you to be older, you must meet that higher age requirement.
By using GymGoat, you confirm that:
You may need an account to use GymGoat. You may be able to sign up using email, Google, Apple, or other login methods we support.
You are responsible for:
You may not sell, rent, transfer, or share your account with another person.
We may suspend or terminate your account if we believe you violated these Terms, created fake activity, cheated the streak system, harassed other users, or created risk for GymGoat or the community.
GymGoat lets users build workout streaks by completing proof-of-workout check-ins.
A proof-of-workout check-in may include:
Location verification is required for verified streak check-ins because GymGoat uses it to help confirm that a workout check-in is happening at or near a gym. As Greg would say: it helps catch cheaters.
You may still be able to use some parts of GymGoat without location access, but you may not be able to create verified streak check-ins without granting the required permissions.
GymGoat may use your device location to verify check-ins, confirm that you are near a gym or selected workout location, prevent cheating, protect streak integrity, and support social fitness features.
Location verification may not always be perfect. GPS accuracy can be affected by device settings, buildings, weather, network conditions, operating system limitations, map provider data, and other technical issues.
We do not guarantee that:
We may create rules for how streaks work, including check-in windows, location requirements, photo requirements, cooldowns, missed-day rules, grace periods, freezes, or anti-cheat reviews. We may change these rules over time to improve the App, reduce abuse, or keep the game fair.
GymGoat may require proof photos for workout streaks. Proof photos may use both the front and back camera, similar to a real-time dual-camera check-in experience.
By taking or uploading a proof photo, you confirm that:
Do not take proof photos in locker rooms, bathrooms, changing areas, medical areas, or other private spaces.
We may remove photos, restrict visibility, or suspend accounts if we believe content violates these Terms or creates risk for other users.
GymGoat includes social features such as friend profiles, streak leaderboards, proof-photo viewing, emoji reactions, nudges, friend requests, invite links, and friend actions like mute, remove, or block.
You agree not to use GymGoat to:
Leaderboards and streaks are meant to be competitive and fun, not harmful. We may hide, limit, remove, or moderate social activity if we believe it violates these Terms.
GymGoat may offer optional contact syncing, friend discovery, invite links, or share-sheet invitations.
You may only use these features if you have permission to use the contact information involved. You may not use GymGoat to spam people or send unwanted invitations.
If contact syncing is available, it is intended only to help you find friends or invite people to GymGoat. We do not allow the use of contacts to harass people, build unauthorized databases, sell contact information, or send messages without your action.
"User Content" means anything you create, upload, submit, share, or make available through GymGoat, including proof photos, profile photos, usernames and display names, workout captions or notes, reactions, comments or messages, friend activity, streak activity, and feedback or support messages.
You keep ownership of your User Content. However, by using GymGoat, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, process, reproduce, modify, and use your User Content as needed to operate, improve, protect, and provide GymGoat.
This license allows us to show your proof photos, profile, reactions, streaks, leaderboard position, and activity to the people or audiences allowed by your settings and App design.
You are responsible for your User Content.
You may not upload, create, or share content that:
We may remove content or restrict accounts at our discretion.
GymGoat depends on fair proof-of-workout streaks. You may not cheat, manipulate, or fake the system.
Examples of prohibited cheating include:
If we believe you cheated, we may remove check-ins, reset streaks, remove leaderboard rankings, suspend features, or terminate your account.
GymGoat is a social fitness and accountability app. It is not medical advice, fitness coaching, personal training, nutrition advice, or health care.
You are responsible for your own workouts, safety, and decisions. Before starting or changing a fitness routine, consider speaking with a qualified professional, especially if you have a medical condition, injury, or health concern.
Do not use GymGoat while doing anything unsafe. Do not take photos in a way that distracts you from your surroundings, violates gym rules, or puts you or others at risk.
GymGoat may offer paid features, premium plans, subscriptions, trials, referral discounts, friend-based discounts, or other promotions.
If you buy something through Apple or another payment provider, your purchase is handled by that provider and may be subject to their payment terms, refund rules, and cancellation process.
Subscription prices, features, discounts, and availability may change. You are responsible for managing or canceling your subscription through the platform where you purchased it.
Promotions, discounts, or friend-based rewards may be changed, limited, paused, or ended at any time. Abuse of discounts or referral systems may result in removal of the discount or account restrictions.
GymGoat, Greg the goat mascot, our logos, design, software, animations, graphics, text, features, buttons, layouts, branding, and other App materials belong to us or our licensors.
You may not copy, modify, sell, rent, reverse engineer, scrape, distribute, or exploit GymGoat or its content without our written permission.
GymGoat may use third-party services for hosting, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, maps, location verification, payments, notifications, storage, image processing, or other App functions.
We are not responsible for third-party services, websites, platforms, or policies. Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
If you download GymGoat from the Apple App Store or another app marketplace, your use may also be governed by that platform's terms.
The app marketplace provider is not responsible for GymGoat, our content, our support, or claims related to GymGoat except where required by that provider's rules or applicable law.
GymGoat may change, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time.
We do not guarantee that GymGoat will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, accurate, or error-free. Streaks, photos, stats, leaderboards, and rankings may be affected by bugs, outages, device issues, or third-party service problems.
GymGoat is provided "as is" and "as available."
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, and security.
We do not guarantee fitness results, social results, location accuracy, streak accuracy, ranking accuracy, or uninterrupted access.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, GymGoat and its owners, employees, contractors, partners, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including lost data, lost profits, lost streaks, lost rankings, account issues, or loss of goodwill.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim related to GymGoat will be limited to the greater of the amount you paid to GymGoat in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.
Some locations do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GymGoat, its owners, employees, contractors, partners, and service providers from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of GymGoat, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, your violation of another person's rights, your misuse of location, camera, contacts, social, invite, streak, or leaderboard features, and your cheating, fraud, harassment, or unlawful activity.
You may stop using GymGoat at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your account or access to GymGoat if we believe you violated these Terms, cheated, created risk, abused the App, or broke the law.
After termination, some sections of these Terms will continue to apply, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute-related provisions.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make major changes, we may notify you through the App, by email, or by posting an updated version.
Your continued use of GymGoat after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of competent jurisdiction, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
